James “Jim” Campbell Kean died suddenly on Saturday, the 20th of August 2016. Born on the 7th of July 1956, Jim attended Scarborough High School, The University of Texas, and The University of Houston Law Center. Jim was an esteemed member of the Houston legal community, and he dedicated much of his career to the advocacy and advancement of environmental protection laws.
Jim was an active and beloved member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX, and he loved Jesus dearly. He was a loving father, husband, brother, son, uncle and friend to those who knew and loved him. Jim had many passions throughout his life. He was an avid Texans fan, marathon runner, cyclist, musician, and chef. He loved a good book and a good joke. Jim will be always be remembered for his winsome way with words, both written and spoken. He will be dearly missed.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Kean; and father, James Edward Kean. Jim is survived by his devoted fiancée, Janice Yeager Kelly; his sister, Michelle Kean Godwin and her husband Robert; and his two daughters, Jennifer Kean Morrison and her husband David, and Kathryn Kean Cornelison and her husband Garrett.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 25th of August, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. A memorial service will be conducted at half-past ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 26th of August, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 5308 Buffalo Speedway in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Warren Family Center.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
